Our Service

Should you decide to offer your works for sale at Karl & Faber, we will guarantee a professional handling of the items as long as they remain in our hands.

Cataloguing
We catalogue all items with utmost care, giving an art historical background as appropriate and always providing information on the condition of the work. As a consigner you will naturally receive the catalogues, in which your items are included, free of charge.

Reaching potential buyers
So as to enhance the interest in your works, we also publish our catalogues on-line on our home page. Since 2007 we have been working with Internet providers such as Lot-tissimo.com, thus reaching an even wider circle of potential buyers.

We also inform our buyers, be it private collectors, museums or trade, directly of objects that might be of particular interest to them. Selected works are shown at our previews in Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Basel. Finally, we advertise top lots in renowned national and international magazines and newspapers, from the Süddeutsche Zeitung to the New York Times.

Expertise
Some objects need to be authenticated before they can be sold at a public auction. We are in close contact with numerous experts recognised on the international art market and can request experts’ opinions for you. This service is free of charge. We will inform you in advance of any authentication, transport or photo fees that might arise.

Restoring and cleaning
In some cases sale results can be improved dramatically by professionally restoring and cleaning an object. We will gladly have the object treated for you, and will inform you of the costs incurred beforehand.

Limit
The limit, that is to say the minimum value under which we will not sell your work of art, is normally fixed at about 60% of the (low) estimate.
